In 2007, the Government launched the Personalisation Agenda: Putting People First, setting out a vision to transform adult social care in England.
Personalisation means building care and support around each individual, placing them at the centre of decisions about their own needs. It marks a shift away from “one-size-fits-all” services, towards support that is flexible, empowering, and genuinely life-enhancing.
This approach focuses on:
Giving people greater choice and control over their care
Providing advice and advocacy so they can make informed decisions
Offering access to a wide range of services — from social care to housing, transport, leisure, education, health, and employment
